What do you drink first thing in the morning? Many of us would answer coffee…ahhhh the horror! Actually, I am a coffee drinker myself and completely understand the concept. However, at a recent skin nutrition seminar, I was reminded that coffee (even decaf) spikes your cortisol and prevents proper food digestion. Since the digestive system has such an intimate relationship with the skin, this could lead to problems. Bummer.
For healthier, younger looking skin, you may want to try starting your day with something green. A green drink is the by far the best skin beautifying breakfast I’ve tried. If you have a good blender / juicer it’s also one of the easiest home-made breakfasts out there!
Here are my favorite two recipes. Each is a bit different. If you don’t want the green color, add in blueberries or other dark frozen berries and the color will be blue / purple instead. You can also add in your protein powder … or a banana to thicken the drink. Enjoy!
