Ingredient to Love: Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid is both a fat and water-soluble antioxidant that exists in almost every cell of the human body. Food Sources include broccoli and spinach, although ALA is found in almost every food to some degree. What makes this ingredient so remarkable is that it can travel anywhere in the body and make itself very useful by recycling, or re-energizing other key antioxidants, such as Vitamin E and Vitamin C. When used topically in skincare, ALA can boost cell metabolism and free radical protection without causing any inflammation at the surface. I always recommend that my clients look into supplements containing ALA, as it can boost the effects of any other antioxidant and is a workhorse all on its own!
