Dilo trees are native, growing all over the Pacific from Madagascar to Fiji. Their strong red timber is often used for building and carving canoes. Their white flowers are sweetly fragrant and very beautiful. As far we’re concerned, though, it’s the fruit (referred to as the dilo nut) that really makes these trees amazing.
The fruit of the tree, about the size of an apricot, has a thin flesh and a large nut hull inside. The somewhat poisonous kernel of the fruit yields dilo oil, a thick, dark-green substance used medicinally.
This oil is used for medicinal purposes in the Pacific.
The extract is believed to enhance the skin’s own natural repair function, thereby accelerating wound healing, collagen production and cellular repair.
As it is known for its regenerative properties, it can also assist in diminishing the signs of aging. Dilo nut oil is widely used on the Islands for burns, inflammations and rashes. It also has antiseptic properties.
Dilo Nut Oil is a staple in all Pure Fiji Body Products to heal and moisturize the skin. It is used along with cold pressed virgin coconut oil and macadamia nut oil to ensure luxurious hydration and protection…and we absolutely love it!
