Just a couple hours south of Chicago is a college town by the name of Champaign, IL. They are home to some of the country’s leading schools in engineering and psychology as well as Division 1 sports teams. They also happen to be home to my husband’s family! We normally make the trek at least once a year around the Holidays to visit aunts, uncles and grandparents…and to see the snow. This time, however, we visited in warmer and greener weather so I thought I’d check out some of the local spas!
Kane & Co Salon and Spa
This salon and spa is located closer to downtown near the University, so it’s a favorite among students and locals alike. Aveda and Dermalogica products are both used in their facial treatments and a gentle, phalate and paraben-free hair care line called Euphora is used in the salon! Their facial offering is short and simple, with only a couple treatment rooms and expert estheticians. It’s perfect for a mid-term study break, or hydrating treat mid summer.
BJ Grand Salon and Spa
They do a lot of work with local cancer charities and are highly involved in the local bridal scene. I found it interesting that BJ Grand offered three tiers for each of their facials where you can request an esthetician, master esthetician or director esthetician to provide the treatment. The more skilled the esthetician, the higher the price. Hmmm…wouldn’t you always want the best??
I do love that they now offer organic spray tanning. Tanning booths are the cardinal sin for skincare, but one cannot be caught in a bikini without a little something, right? These are the perfect pre-summer prep (and a favorite of the Kardashians as well.)
