Hangover Cures for your Skin

cosmopolitan‘Tis the season of celebrating. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s, there are plenty of parties, functions and events…leaving you and your skin paying the consequences. Your skin aids the internal digestive system and can feel a little worse for the wear after a night of celebrating. Dry skin, breakouts, puffy eyes. But if you plan ahead, there’s no reason your skin has to suffer. Here are a few tips for keeping your skin feeling great through the Holidays:

Try a homeopathic sugar remedy before eating sugary foods or drinking alcohol. Many of these remedies aid your body in processing and eliminating sugars from your system quickly, which means less of a hangover the next morning.

Drink a glass of water in between each adult beverage. Keeping your body well hydrated will help prevent headaches the next morning and will also help you pace yourself.

Skip the coffee the next morning and drink cleansing teas instead. My favorite is Yogi’s Peach Detox Tea. If you are feeling up to it and want to make your own tea, this is a great recipe too: Hangover Tea.

Sweat it out with a cardio workout the next day. This will cause you to sweat out some of the toxins in your system and sill also release endorphins which will make you feel better.

Treat yourself to a hangover facial:

Cleanse your skin, then apply a cooling hydration mask (or make your own in advance with mashed cucumbers). Peppermint oil can be applied to your temples, under the ears and at the base of the hairline on the back of the neck for headache relief as well. Finish with a great eye gel or cream containing vitamin C or peptides to speed circulation, like Sanitas Peptiderm Eye Treatment.

LED is a great professional facial treatment for reducing inflammation and redness as well as under eye puffiness.
